48 hours in the beautiful, imperial city of Vienna

My list of the most beautiful and memorable trips I've ever taken includes, without a doubt, the one to Vienna.

Short in the sense that my stay lasted only 48 hours, but full of beautiful images, incomparable flavors and indelible smells.

Hello everyone and welcome to my Blog!

If you’d like to have this experience as well and be able to tell those around you about it.

Here are some useful tips you should take into consideration once you decide to take this must-have journey.

48 hours in the beautiful, imperial city of Vienna

Reaching Vienna

You can travel to the imposing, imperial even, city of Vienna easily and at a low cost, taken that you book your tickets in time.

Picking a flight from Athens or Thessaloniki, you will land at Vienna Airport in just one hour and twenty minutes. You can then board on the train and then the metro, reaching the city center at a cost of around 5.50 euros.

Accommodation

Among the many hotels and guesthouses that will be waiting for you upon arrival at the city, there are two of them that really stand out: the Altstadt Hotel on Kirchengasse

and the 25 Hours Hotel on Lerchenfelder Street.

I highly recommend them, with the promise that you won’t regret your stay there, both in terms of comfort and staff, as well as aesthetics; modern, tasteful, elegantly decorated spaces that will almost make you not want to leave your room.

Sightseeing

So, leaving your luxurious room and looking for the best places to visit in Vienna, you shouldn't miss out on the following:

  1. St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom). It is an imposing building of historical importance, the construction of which began in 1137. Once you take a look at it, you will be awestruck and you will definitely realize why it is one of the most important attractions of the city.

2) The Hofburg Palace, which is none other than the palace of Princess Sisi.

Among the multitude of palaces that confirm Vienna's imperial identity, this one is a must-see attraction that you should definitely admire in person.

Its grandeur will take your breath away, while the guided tour will fill you in on all the historical details around it.

3) What’s more ideal for art lovers than the Belvedere Museum?

? Beyond the art gallery, however, the building complex includes lush gardens and a magnificent lake, making for a beautiful setting that will make your tour unforgettable.

Coffee & Treats

And when I spoke of smells at the beginning, I was, of course, referring to the aroma of coffee, which we all can’t help but love.

After all, what can compare to a nice, relaxed morning at one of the wonderful cafés of such a special city?

And if you really want this coffee to be unforgettable, then you should definitely combine it with one of the following:

  1. 1) The famous Sachertorte, the ultimate chocolate temptation that will lift your taste buds. You'll get to taste it, of course, at Sacher Café, surrounded by classy decor and atmospheric music.

2) The traditional sweet Kaiserschmarrn, or the emperor's pancakes.

as it is named after the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I, who loved this fluffy shredded pancake and not without reason.

So, if you want to taste this sugary delicacy yourself and find out why the emperor loved it so much, all you have to do is visit Demel Café.

3) The amazing, aromatic sparkling wine served at Hoflieferanten, accompanied by its famous chocolates.

4) The historic elegance of the notorious Café Central, which has welcomed and treated people like Freud and Trotsky, among others.

Food

The gastronomy of a place is an integral part of any traveler's tourist experience that should not be overlooked nor underestimated.

Food suggests a lot about a region’s culture and is one of the main points of influence between peoples.

Thus, your trip to Vienna should include the right culinary choices, some of which are:

  1. 1) What is Austria if not schnitzel? Unless, of course, you are a vegetarian. However, a true meat eater can't help but have a taste of the schnitzel cooked and served with great mastery at the Figmüller restaurant.

2) A true, objective food lover has to try everything new;

If you want to taste one of the most delicious junk food in your life, you need to visit the Bitzinger Würstelstand canteen.

All of the above, of course, is only a small part of this beautiful city.

Just a few suggestions based on my experience and taste.
